One Medical is a membership-based primary care practice on a mission to make getting quality care more affordable, accessible, and enjoyable for all through a blend of human-centered design, technology, and an exceptional team.
OBJECTIVE
Our relationship with One Medical started in March 2020, when we helped them set up COVID testing sites. We leveraged a variety of connections, from the Georgetown BID to the Mayor’s Office to the National Parks Service to identify pop-up testing sites. After completing that effort, we moved on to a larger expansion plan. One Medical had a traditional doctor’s office presence in DC, but wanted to move out of those spaces and down to the street level to become a best-in-class brand.
STRATEGY
Our strategy leaned heavily on customer data: how customers use One Medical and where to open retail locations to reach those customers. One Medical wanted to build a national brand presence, so we targeted high-end retail markets like Bethesda Row and Mosaic District that typically have a high barrier to entry. Placing them in these spaces created a more recognizable, elevated brand presence.
RESULTS
We took advantage of market conditions to identify spaces where medical providers wouldn’t usually open. Repositioning out of traditional office space and onto street level helped One Medical become a more recognizable brand. We’re currently helping them expand to other lifestyle centers in Northern Virginia.
