Matthew Alexander is a principle and co-founder of Dochter & Alexander Retail Advisors, a highly focused, specialized retail brokerage and consulting company in Washington, DC. In his role, Mr. Alexander provides a variety of services to national, regional, and local tenant and landlord clients throughout the Washington Metropolitan Area. He works with both private and institutional owners to provide leasing, sales and consulting services for urban retail properties, mixed-use, and ground-up development. He and the team represent some of the largest and most complex projects in the market including Gallery Place, Georgetown Harbor, District Center and DCUSA. He assists his clients throughout the marketing and leasing process providing project design consulting, merchandising plans, financial analysis and lease/contract negotiations.

In addition, Mr. Alexander provides a creative and strategic approach to market entry and site acquisition processes for several national, regional, and local retailers and restaurateurs. He prides himself on having a deep understanding of his client's business to provide solutions that meet their objectives. He works closely with his clients to develop an overall market strategy and directs the process of market analysis, site identification, and lease/contract negotiations. Matthew has been fortunate to have been involved in some of the largest and most influential, award-winning transactions in the market over his career including REI at Uline Arena, Saks OFF Fifth and Nordstrom Rack deals at District Center, H&M at 1130 Connecticut Avenue, Earthtreks in National Landing and the sale of 3150 M Street in Georgetown. As a result of his great partnerships with his clients and successful execution, Mr. Alexander has been recognized as one of the top Real Estate professionals in the DC Region and has been named top Retail Broker by CREBA six times and was honored to be named to the 2019 Power 100 Class in the Washington Business Journal.

Prior to founding Dochter & Alexander Retail Advisors, Matthew was an Executive Director with the Cushman & Wakefield Retail Services Group where he and his partner David Dochter led the Washington, DC retail team. Prior to that, He was a First Vice President at CBRE where he was recognized as a market leader and as one of the top producers both regionally and nationally. Matthew is a leading retail broker in the Washington DC market having worked with 350 retailers, leased or sold 10M SF of retail property, and completed 1200 leasing and sales transactions in his 20+year career. Matthew and his team have been retained to represent and provide consulting and brokerage services on behalf of notable developers and retailers.
