Last Night At The CREBA Awards

Last night, CREBA held its 34th annual awards ceremony at the Capital Hilton in downtown DC. The ceremony was full of laughs.

Especially when the night's big winner, Cushman & Wakefield vice chairman Spencer Stouffer, took home the Brendan McCarthy Memorial Award. Spencer is a four-time CREBA top broker winner for NoVa—including this year—and is C&W's national leasing practice leader

The night was also a promising look at the youth in the industry, including Rising Star Award winner Martha Naughten, a director at Vornado. Proud father Fidelity National Title Insurance Co senior general counsel Chris Naughten was one of the happiest guys in the room.

Youth was also served for CREBA's first-ever Young Brokerage Network Community Service Award to CBRE's Ned Welbourn, who founded the Young Real Estate Professionals of Washington. Ned is second from right, with Michael Blunt and William Hill of CBRE, Jennifer Coursen of Washington REIT and Steve Owens of Interior Architects.

The night's only back-to-back winners were Matt Alexander and Dave Dochter of Dochter & Alexander Retail Advisors, who won retail brokers of the year (again) retail deal of the year for bringing REI to Uline Arena in NoMa, and that development won Project of the Year

Carr Properties COO Daniel Dooley was another double-winner, taking home the James L. Eichberg Broker of the Year Award and the prize for top leasing agent in the region, after signing Fannie Mae to the biggest private sector lease in District history last year to 1100 15th St NW. His counterparts on the tenant side, Kurt Richter and Art Santry of Cushman & Wakefield (then of DTZ), took home top DC leasing agent honors.

So thanks to CREBA president Gary Cook of Vornado/Charles E. Smith, snapped with CREBA's Mary Margaret Plumridge and Cushman & Wakefield's Moe Hamilton, and CREBA staff for another great awards ceremony, and another great year in DC real estate. Here's the complete list of award winners.
